The speciﬁed focal lengths of MOBOTIX lenses do not reﬂect the actual focal length

of the lenses, but the focal length (L

mm) converted to 35mm camera format. For

example, the MOBOTIX Super Wide-Angle lens has an actual focal length of 4mm. This

would be the equivalent of 22mm on a 35mm camera. This lens is thus called

L22

Converting the focal lengths to 35mm camera as a known format provides for bet

ter comparison of the image formats and the image angles of the dierent lenses.

Another beneﬁt is that you can easily set any average 35mm camera (analog or

digital) to the same focal length as the MOBOTIX lens (L

) to obtain the same image

angle. This approach greatly facilitates lens selection.
